HOW DO I ADD PICTURES TO MY THREADS/POSTS?

Glad you asked!

There are two ways to add pictures to your threads/posts.

The first option is to host the file/picture on OzFoz.

When you are viewing the 'new post' screen, scroll down and you will see the section titled 'upload attachment'.

Image

Find the location of the picture that you want to add on your PC/hard drive.

Once you've found it, click 'add the file'.

You can add a maximum of three pictures per post.

Please note - it is ESSENTIAL that you resize your images image before posting them. Something around 800h x 1200w pixels is about as big as you should go, and under 300-400kb in size. You can reduce the size of an image using various software packages including Microsoft Paint which is included on all PCs that run Windows OS.

The second option is to host the file externally via Photobucket. This a very useful option as you can store 1000 images in your free Photobucket account and you can easily find and link to them again in future.

One very important thing to note... if you add useful images/info to the forum via your photobucket account or any similar external hosting account, please remember to try and not delete the images. Otherwise, the links are useless.

If you don't have a Photobucket account, go to http://www.photobucket.com and register for free.

Once you have registered, click on the 'upload images and videos' button. You can then search for the location of the pictures that you wish to upload, and add them to your Photobucket account.

Once the images are uploaded, you will be given options such as tagging or adding names to the images etc. Once you've progressed through this and have added the images to your account, you need to copy and paste the link to your photo which is inside the [IMG] tags. Refer to the image below:

Once you copy this link, paste it in your thread and voila!

You can add as many images as you wish to any single post. We'd recommend adding no more than 10 or so to help keep the page layout of the forum looking decent.

Hope this helps those who are unsure how to add images to their posts! Please feel free to make any suggestions on how to improve this sticky, and also feel free to link to this post if any new members are unsure regarding how to post images on the forum :)

The Photobucket method also works for images in sigs.

Just try and keep them a reasonable size. Not so much of an issue here but on other forums sig sizes are crazy big.

Indeedery. We've got a limit of 120 pixels in height for sigs so that keeps things under control a little bit.

I've amended the post above to refer to image size in general. Nothing worse than huge 2mb images added as attachments to posts. Thanks for planting the seed of thought in my noggin Dylan! :)

That would certainly help keep things under control.

Image size doesn't bother me to much, but I'm on a pretty decent connection here. But when I have to side scroll on a 22" monitor it is a bit much!

You cant put more than 3 on a page unless you host them on a site like photobucket then put a link to them here.. its all explained in the first post, take a read

Fair enough.

When I created the first post I documented the process as simply as possible, so your best bet is to keep trying. There's no other/easier way of explaining it... you might be missing a step in the process?
