From memory they are actually pretty close, the BRZ almost a second down on the Impreza (tune on the Impreza wasn't using AVCS at the time). Both on stock(ish) suspension and road tyres.

So with my next visit to WP coming up on the 16th, I've decided to see where the car really sits in amongst the people I'm competing with.

These (225/45R17) Toyo R888R's are on my BBS rims. I've fitted longer wheel studs and will be running a 10mm spacer to get the wheel offset more to my liking (running a spacer is legal on the track).

Had to look twice there, I've had the 888s but have not seen the 888Rs before.

Whats the difference?

New construction, new pattern, pretty much the same compound. There is marketing saying quicker warm up etc, but we'll see how they go. Half the price of A050's so why not give them a try.

It's only going from +53 down to +43 and the spacers I have are hub centric, so it shouldn't be too bad (touch wood).

In countrys like the USA that dont get the A050s delivered, they rate the 888 and consider them a deceny tyre.

Damn that was a cold event. I shouldn't have been surprised, it was about the same as two years ago when the temp didn't get above a windy 6C, but we had light showers yesterday, which didn't help. Last year (when I had a year off) apparently it was -11C at the track in the morning. That meant only 60 competitors for this event, so the turn around was fairly rapid as there were only 5 groups.

Anyway, the result. I got into the 1m15's, which isn't too bad, considering most people were well off their PB's due to the low track temps. I'll have to wait until October for another run around WP.

Next up is another go around SMSP North.........in August, then the GP circuit 2 weeks later and the South circuit 2 weeks after that. August will be busy.

I'm not sure, I seemed to have more money back then (only doing 6 very cheap events per year, but there wasn't a whole lot of track time).

There's definitely more variety and seat time available here. Hopefully later this year the local circuit (about 10 km's for where I live) will finally be open, that may mean less trips in the middle of the year to Goulburn.
