Hi guys,

I have an 03XT that I got off a mate and I literally don't even know what I have... I've asked him countless times exactly what mods have been done and he always avoids the question...

As far as I know it's 3" turbo back, big cannon, heavy duty clutch, bov, fmic, boost controller (under bonnet), bigger fuel pump, afr guage boost gauge water temp gauge.
... I run it daily on 12-15 psi and 98 octane and its never let me down.. uses a bit of fuel and some engine oil but it's a good little rocket...

I would say it does roughly 5-6 seconds 0-100 and 14-15 second 1/4..

The question is.... Would it have already been tuned or do I need to get it booked in asap for a proper tune?? He won't answer me as to whether he has done one or the previous owner has...??

If in doubt, bring it to a proper tuner.

And there's a whole lotta doubt when your mate tries to avoid the question.

Strange your mate won’t answer any of your questions. That would worry me, a lot. I would take it to a Subaru specialist and have them check the whole car over.

Weird. Boost T is concerning and the typical thing done on a gt that was hard to tune.

Xt is an easy tune for around $500. Like others mentioned it may be Nice to have someone check it over pre tune to be safe. You could line up a larger turbo as you have all the supporting mods.

Maybe try kickin your ' mate ' in the nuts a few times , anyway is it a boost tee used - if so safe to say no , any decent tuner would use the Ecu / stock or 3 port solenoid
can you see what turbo it's running ?
You'll get the best out of it with a proper tune , in the interim you could get an ob2 dongle thing and get some ' learning views ' where you can get a bit of a look at fuel trims and the knock table

Under $1k may have been a better genralisation but i thought a throttle happy road tune was around that. I have an eculabs/TH tune in my gt so that was more (happy with tune 2yrs on). Other people i have met have had road tunes on other cars for around 500 in qld - can't recall tuner names.

As for vic i don't know sorry.

Warwick / shadow tuned has a good rep , he's in Melbourne last I heard - maybe look into that if you want a tune , no idea on price though ...

A tune is highly recommended - Need to get the balance right with the mods.
It could be doing anything...... As suggested above - get a logger, get more information.
Umm - manual boost controller is a concern...... if I have read it right.
You need to get a list of mods - e.g. if you have a bigger intake and the MAF is not scaled, you may be too rich or too lean - burn out the engine over time. Bigger injectors could also be an issue......
Should be using ECU to get the boost/fuel ratios right.
Tune - Tune - Tune. Matt @ Kiddo Racing ! will do magic.
