Hi All :waves:

OK so i've been busy with my Foz and now it has WRX Wagon struts with 20mm strut spacers in rears,WRX rear swaybar, new 17" 'Raven' wheels,Single Stage Boost Controller with electronic switch, boost gauge, Walbro 500hp Fuel Pump....OH yeah and a MY99 Full WRX engine :)
All was well till I tried to up the boost to 14lbs and it started to cut out....so I find out that its the standard GT Foz ECU going...NOOOOO PLEEEAAASSSEEE NOOOO...or sort of that kinda thing.
So my local suby guy says he has a MY99 WRX ECU and he tried to fit it...all the plugs went in..turned the key...warning lights everywhere and it started then died....it wasn't at all happy. SO the old FOZ ECU went back in and alls well with it again (apart from it won't go anything past 12lbs boost without it cutting out at revs).
SO he says the WRX ECU wiring is different from the FOZ ECU and even though its the right ECU for that new engine it won't work without swapping some wiring on the new ECU.
Now my knowledge is slim to minimal when it comes to electronics so if anyone can explain (with pics would be great) what has to be done to get the WRX ECU to work in a MY99 Foz Gt with a MY99 WRX engine in it then i'd love you for life ;)
(I can print it, give it to my suby guy and he can do the rest)

Thanks in Advance..

Gaz :)

PS...I'll post pics of the new look Foz later today :)

Gaz, best to post in the electronics section but leave it for now and one of the mods will move it.

If the engine and ECU are from a JDM import WRX (most likely) then you'll need to perform a couple of wire swaps due to the immobiliser system

Check out the Wire Swap information in THIS THREAD and that should get ger running

it's simply a swap of the cam and crank angle sensor wires that are intercepted by the AUDM immobiliser.

i've also heard reports that the fuel pump relay trigger wire is different, but i had no such issues in my MY99 fozz with PowerFC fitted

Thanks mate,

I should also point out the engine is and import and I think the ecu is from an Aus spec WRX so not sure if that makes a difference.

Cheers

Gaz :)

Has anyone connected and tuned a Haltech Interceptor to a 01 Forester GT?

I've connected up all wires as per the Haltech 01 WRX diagram:
Attachment:

Downloaded 201 times

Some of the colours differ, but locations appear correct.
these colours differ on the ecu side:
Y/L = YG
B/W = Y
P = BR
G/W = BR/B

sorry the diagram is a bit worn and smudged, a few rain drops got onto it.

When I start the car I get a code 0107 'pressure sensor circuit' error, and in the Haltech software interface the RPM is erratic, low 60rpm then 16,000rpm and all over the place.

Will check the wires again (a third time!) and maybe measure the voltages, maybe adjust some of the values in the sensor setup.
The current base map is a 01-05 WRX, was told that's the correct one to use.

Problem sorted, another quick fix ;)
The Haltech wiring diagram emailed to me from Haltech has an incorrect wire number for the MAP sensor output.
The Analogue out 3 'MAP Out' wire (Yellow/Orange) is listed as G1, so grey connector pin1, it's actually pin 2.
The pin1 on grey connector is listed as Yellow/Orange is actually Yellow/Red.

Once I set the MAP output to be 'Analogue out 2' (pin2), I cleared the ECU code 0107 and started the car.
This time everything worked, RPM reading normally and no codes from the ECU :)
Immediatly tried a few setting and test drives, settled on a few % fuel increase and 2-3 degrees advance along with 15-16 PSI boost,
a good improvement :D  pulls much harder now.

For the MY99-00 connector B136 terminal 7, the pressure sensor, Im assuming thats the fuel tank pressure sensor? Also any idea what the Read Memory Connector is?
