Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows the process of replacing a 2003 forester 2.5x engine with a newer model 2005 xt 2.5 turbo model engine, any help would be greatly appreciated or if you can point me in the right direction would be great, thanks.

ECU won't run it. Gear box won't like it. Either by a car that is turbo to begin with or don't mess about and do a full GDB STI driveline swap

It would probably be FAR cheaper to sell your 2003 and just buy an XT around the same age.

Unless you can do all the labour yourself and have access to a cheap XT donor vehicle that you can strip (engine, cabin and engine wiring looms, ecus, keys, drivetrain, and all the associated everything), then its not even worth thinking about.

And even if you can do the labour, and do have a donor vehicle. Its still probs not gonna be worth thinking about. Because at the end of the day, all your gonna have is a bitsa forester. When you could buy an equivelant XT for reasonable dollars, and save your self a massive headache.

Maybe if you got a wrecked XT super cheap (with salvageable bits), then you could literally just swap everything over.
