Hi all
Does anyone know if you can program or install an electrical device that will central lock when the automatic car is put in drive, or unlock when car is in park? Some cars come with this feature but just wanted to know if this can be changed?
I have a forester xt auto 2009

Thanks?

Good question MelbourneForesterXT. One I had thought of recently! My VW has it but it also has a lot of other standard features that Subaru do not offer..... hmm.

Who has an answer can we program Auto door lock when car in drive?

Cheers Al

That "click" wouldn't be reassuring for any hitchhikers you pick up...

Eh, most cars from about the late '00s have that already, as soon as they go over a given speed, they automatically lock the doors.
They don't unlock it automatically though, most of the times one needs to pull the handle twice to actually open the door.

Some after market alarms can be programmed to do this, it does on my 94 Nissan with viper alarm but not a auto though.

I would be interested in finding out too. I am sure there is a circuit that will do this for you, as when you start moving, the centre console disables some functions to prevent you being distracted.
This of course happens as soon as you start moving, which is not so bad if you really want the security.
Should be able to just tap into the circuit, with a relay to the central door locking switch !
Simple..... The hard part is finding the wiring diagrams!

It wont be as easy as 'tapping into a circuit'. As all that information is carried over CAN-BUS on these vehicles.
