Recently put NUR through the ACT Dickson Motor Registry inspection station to transfer the registration. The inspector checked the dyed privacy glass and the tinted film on the front doors. The front door glass tested at 31% and he said that the tint would be 35% and the glass colour has dropped it another 4%. He then said that the ACT is 35% for the front door glass but they will allow down to 30% so phew!!!

Interesting topic.

I recently looked at replacing my tint ( November 2013). And was told by local shop, that anything darker then 5% tint is illegal and defectable in nsw.
That's on all windows.

35% on all glass bar privacy glass as the gov can't police something that comes into the country 'standard' as such. that's all states..
Funny enough though i've had limo's come in to have 5% removed after being done by the cops for too dark LOL

15% all round, came with the car, not complaining either.

According to the NT tint Standards ACT:

"A coating or tint applied on the driver and front passenger side windows must have a resultant LT of not less than 35%.
A coating or tint applied rearward of the driver’s seating position must have a resultant LT of not less than 15%.
Any coating or tint applied to vehicle windows and windscreens must be non reflective (i.e. reflectance must not exceed 10%) and must be uniform (i.e. no distortion or bubbling).
Glazing used in the front windscreen of a motor vehicle must have a luminous transmittance of at least:
(a) for a motor vehicle built after 1971 – 75%; or
(b) for another motor vehicle – 70%.
A strip with any LT may be applied to the greater of the following areas of a windscreen:
(a) the area above the highest point of the windscreen that is swept by a windscreen wiper; or
(b) the upper 10% of the windscreen.
No other coating or tinting is permitted on the windscreen that reduces its LT.
Glazing used in an interior partition of a motor vehicle must have a LT of at least 70%"
