 Post subject: sf5 blowing black smoke

Hi everyone, i have a forester gt and when i hit up to 140kmh the exhaust are blowing black smoke i can see it on my rear mirror and my engine oil is burning quickly. 1L gone in 1000kms

Black smoke usually means running rich (too much fuel). Burning oil is usually white/blueish smoke.

If you are losing 1l of oil in 1000 km unless you have a bad oil leak your engine is probably on its last legs.

Concur with TMWNN, burning oil is white/bluish coming out of the exhaust.

Are you sure it is the exhaust ?? I suggest you get some to follow or you overtake someone at high speed (carefully of course).

Using oil, could be lots of blow-by - check your compression.
Do you run high boost ?
Do you have a catch can ?
Oil colour ??? Dark/light ?

That is a lot of oil to use in such a short time. If you have a leak it should be obvious, if you are burning it...... well, no so good.
