THEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE FIRST DRIVE!!!

THE CAR IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, RAN FLAWLESSLY IN EXTREME HEAT FOR HOURS ON END, HAS INSANE POWER AT ONLY 10-12psi BOOST. IT'S ONLY JUST SCRATCHING THE SURFACE!!!

Wait a minute...back in May 2017 you grabbed a 257 from somewhere, didn't that one go into the Foz?

I just got the video of you talking about the 257 as a recommendation, noticed that you've used the three-port water pump. Came here to ask why you didn't use the 2port one instead of blocking the oil-cooler port on the 3port pump.

Yeah the built 257 is in now. I just kept posting vids in the cars original thread - prob should of started a new one now that I look back on it lol.

I didn't do the water pump or any of the timing gear. Didn't know there was a 2 port one either!

From what i remember, there are four types of pumps, at least that's how many i went through on my MY06 N/A 2.0R Impreza before finding the right one.
And before you ask: No, i wasn't too stupid to find the right part. I went to a Subaru dealer who is basically owning Subaru Germany. He couldn't figure it out, even with my VIN.

There's the cheapo pump with one port, used on the 1.5/1.6L engines. No idea where that port goes.
Then there's the regular 2port pump for A/T cars, both ports on left side of car (My SF5 has that one)
The third one has two ports, one on each side, used for manuals with OEM oil cooler (the 2.0R had that, possibly 2.0RS and maybe even WRX)
And the fourth is the one with three ports, the STi pump, for the STis (duh) with tranny(?) and oil coolers. And wherever that third port goes.

And that's even disregarding the different internals, e.g. heavy cast iron vs. lightweight pump-wheel.

There is also a 2 port water pump with cast impellor used on the Spec C engines. These engine have a dedicated front mounted oil cooler as original, and not the coolant/oil heat exchanger. So the pumps dont have the 3rd entry port.

The 3 entry port pumps are the standard turbo engine pumps. 1 port comes from the oil/coolant heat exchanger, 1 comes from the heater core, and 1 comes from the coolant header tank above the turbo.

All these extra ports are the by-pass circuit. They simply allow coolant to flow and by-pass the radiator. This allows the thermostat to get some heat and open once the engine is warm, not once the radiator is warm. Hence, by-passing the radiator. And also allows the coolant to move around when the thermostat is closed.

My RCM dry-sump kit came included with the Spec C variant water pump because the dry-sump pump interferes with the 3rd inlet. And also because no one with an engine modified to run a dry-sump is still gonna be using the coolant/oil modine.
