That's why i called it a day when i run last year. Had a scary moment and couldn't afford to bin my daily.

It is a LOT safer than exploring the limits of your car on a public road (though no insurance).

You just need to back it off a few tenths when the red mist starts to descend, even if that takes a few deep breaths before starting a run. The timing doesn't start until you go, not on the green light.

Oh for sure. Regardless of where it happened I'd cry if I binned one of my Foresters. Like everything else the only things preventing me from regularly entering hill climbs and track days is time and money

Even if you're only pushing as hard as you normally do on the street, i's still a heap of fun.
The more runs you do the more confident you get and slowly build up pace.
With each run, try and carry a few Km/h more speed into each corner, or brake a little later, but generally, slow-in, get it pointed in the right direction and then give it hell on the exit.

Unless you're in an NA, then it's either slow in, slow out or carry as much speed in, and not quite as slow out

if you're too fast an agressive on entry in an NA you can still wash off too much speed
I suppose you're talking about an NA EJ Fozz here, and not a H6 NA Liberty... :D

Just be smooth whatever you're driving, even going at granny pace is't still fun,
as soon as you put on a Helmet, you're racing regardless of how fast you're actually going
and most people are more abusive o their car on the street that they would be on a track or hillclimb day

Put the book of excuses away, get your butt out there and do what you've modified the car for,

just thinking about it, if you wanted to compete the NA would be a class winner. pretty much everyone else with an AWD car would be over 2L and/or have a turbo, so you'd own SV under 2L.

Clearly not taking into account my lack of racecar driving skills hahaha.

So yeah, I think I'm coming to the next one. :D

COME & TRY HILLCLIMB

SUNDAY 6TH March 2016

Held at RINGWOOD PARK HILLCLIMB

organised by MGCC Newcastle
Italia Rd BALICKERA (Nth of Raymond Terrace)

Are you tired of being a spectator and would like to join in the fun? Hillclimbing is one of the safest ways to get involved in Motorsport. It is only you against the clock – no one else to worry about. You don’t have to be a current member of a CAMS approved Car Club, you can just come along and try it out . By purchasing a L1 Come & Try Licence for $25 this gives you day membership and day insurance for a non competition event. If you like it and you wish to continue to compete you have 6 months to cash in the $25 on a L2S licence, costing $115 for a 12 month period.

Experienced competitors will be available as instructors if required. Participants will walk the track where comments on approaching and leaving corners will be given, where to brake and other valuable driving skills. You don’t need a fancy competition car you can just bring the shopping car. Just relax and have some fun we will take care of all the CAMS paperwork.

For more information
Ring Greg Hunter now 0412 493 711
Supplementary Regulations will be available on the web soon
