I'm really struggling to find info on this stupid thing. I broke the stepper motor while popping off and reinstalling the gauge needle. It's not just a matter of not having pushed the shaft back in deep enough, I seem to have pushed too hard and damaged the internals. Anyway, long story short, I can't find a replacement online. Every search I do only brings back a set of replacement motors for GM brand vehicles, which is entirely useless to me.

The serial number seems to be 7201B23 or maybe Z201B23. I don't know what the 69 23 is supposed to mean.

Pic attached shows the only markings on the motor. The pic shows the motor removed from its metal casing.

FYI: the mechanics.stackexchange.com post in the google search results is also mine.

Update: Subaru does not sell the stepper motor on its own, however you can order the speedometer unit, meaning the stepper motor, plastic backing, face, and needle. Part number is 85020SA780 (units in miles) or 85020SA740 (units in km/h). The thing is called a Speedometer Head.

I was quoted around $100 (or around ZAR1100), which is at the very least a lot better than a whole new gauge cluster would cost.

Can't find one locally from a reputable source. And if I import, it's going to cost me almost $50 extra just for shipping and customs. That would bring the cost to around 3 times what a brand new speedo unit would cost.
