99% of the time a 1/2 inch works. Its that one time when you get a really really stuck one that you will be thanking the gods you have the right tools.

Thanks

I'm not sure what the difference is there , just straight redline lightweight should work pretty well if you have a synchro prob and can't get the Motul , I believe that just makes the shift a bit better and nicer especially in the cold parts of the USA .
Still using this combo and its still working very well , no issues at all - 260 thou plus k's .

The 300 ls is specified for limited slip diffs. Does it make a difference which one I use. The ls is $10 or $20 more, so I was thinking using the ls in the rear diff and normal 300 in the box

I just use straight redline in the rear diff , normal gear 300 will be fine for the front diff/ gear box .

Thanks for the help.

After some more researching, I think the LSD part of the diff is enclosed with it's own fluid, so you don't need LSD specific oil.

Hey guys, just wondering a pretty basic question here. I am about to do the trans fluid change but haven't owned a subie before this one.

Is the front diff the same compartment as the transmission, meaning when I fill from the dipstick tube im filling both the trans and the diff at once? or are there separate fill/drain points for both the front diff and the transmission.

Any advice/insights is greatly appreciated!

baz

Still using that oil combo , now have new genuine shifter knuckle ( bushes were cactus in that - worth checking on high ks ) group N trans mount , upgraded shifter bushes ( in stock shifter and box ) and its pretty bloody good , massive improvement in shifter feel and slop .
Group n mount adds minimal nvh , not enough to be annoying though .
