Only can catch is if they replace the head unit, its only time that the new one will go. Thats what happened to me, two weeks after the warranty expired. The fan from RS components is far higher quality than the kenwood one.

I replaced my noisy fan about 6 months ago - it got rid of the buzz but was not silent. The fan has gotten noisier over the past 6 months. I replaced it with another fan, off ebay, today. Not much on an improvement - still whirring. I decided to remove the fan altogether. I know others have done the same. Has anyone experienced any problems running with no fan?

How is your head unit travelling without the fan?
Still going alright since this post?

Wanting to rip mine out too if a replacement fan is still noisy.

My replacement is not noisy. Im guessing if you buy a cheap ebay fan for $2 you’ll probably get what you paid for.

No problems without a fan. I know others are also running without a fan and have no problems. Not sure if it makes any difference but I don’t use the CD/DVD player which may put more load on the head unit. If it does have a problem it is a great reason to put in a decent head unit - which I will likely do anyway at some stage.
