No Pics sorry.

Basically you connect the wire that goes to the Nav system to the common pin of your switch (just a SPDT switch). The wire that goes to the handbrake just gets taped up and left. And you then wire a ground to one side of the switch.

So one way the NAV unit gets no signal, and the other way it gets ground which is the signal the handbrake was giving.

Too easy... Thanks heaps

Been a while since on here (months) my solution is in my gallery thingo..

Edit: here it is

And I also did a fair bit of searching and reading up on the stock h/u and had a bit of a tinker with that..

I acquired some bits

Popped out the ol' safety wire (and put heat shrink on it)

Put in the new wire, then secured the fork lug under a screw on the side of the h/u

So now I can use ALL the functions on the h/u whilst moving and not only half of them as it comes out of the factory, in other words by-passed all the "safety" features..

Then slipped in my other cables which involved 2 pins

Which enables you to do cool things like this,

Which is handy if i want to put in headrest monitors later or if you go camping or something, you can watch a DVD on a flat screen in you boot and just plug an inverter into the cig socket in boot to power the screen itself :)

That's about it I think, lol so very exciting hahah

Thanks for the guide, it worked a treat :D

Is there a way to get rid of the 'Agree' screen on startup though? Also, are there any hack/jailbreak mods you can do to the navi units? ALSO... are the latest firmware versions and map disks anywhere for download?

Do you have a multimeter Sean?

If you want to figure out what wire is coming from the handbrake (as in which wire you need to cut). What you can do is probe the back of the connector (or use a pin in the front once its unplugged from the headunit and probe that) and then put the other probe to ground. Set the multimeter to continuity and then pull the handbrake on and off.

MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE YOU DO THIS.

You know there's pretty heavy fines if you get caught doing that, so I hope you had your windows up and a towel over your lap to hide it!!! ;)

Just disconnect pin 4 it's numbered, I posted pics earlier in the thread.. If you get a torch an shine it on the plug where you see the wires enter it has number there for reference.. Mine was a purplish wire, and remember if you cut it, to earth the side that comes out of the plug, not the side that goes in to the loom :)

Edit : sorry this thread has pics
