Hey all, I need to wire up a trailer plug for the rear of my XT foz.. Is there a 'plug-and-play' style wiring I can buy that will plug into the main wiring loom or do I need to tap into it somewhere and make my own??

Cheers

I believe there’s a socket in the boot for a trailer plug to connect to.

Inside the rear of the car, on the wiring leading to the right rear combo light there is a plug for trailer signals. Im pretty sure its on the floor of the boot under all the carpets and foams. (Been a while, could be wrong.)

But its not a common plug, so you will probs have to splice into it. Unless you get the Subaru OEM flat ribbon cable and pay the Subaru tax.

You could try a wrecker for the original Subaru loom, it should be plug and play.

What they said. The reputable after-market towbar suppliers have "adapter" harnesses that go between Subaru's R79 (IIRC) in the right rear corner to the universal connector on their cable tail. We have used Hayman-Reese towbars on a couple of SG's and I'd expect the adapter harness would be available separately from those vendors.

Away travelling atm, but if I were at home I could look up the H-R part# for you.

Note that R79 does NOT include a reversing light line. You need to intercept that behind the tail-light assembly if needed (for a reversing camera, for instance).
