 Post subject: Led tail lights

I just installed my brake, blinker, and reverse lights now my blinker flashes very fast. I was told that I need load resisters installed the lights brand I got are j.w speaker and they have 2 types of load resisters a 5w and 21w which one of these should I get for the blinkers?

21w. For each side. (watt isnt a proper measure of a resistor, unless its defining how much wattage the resistor can handle. But I guess they use that to simplify things for the auto aftermarket.

You could also look at fitting a LED flasher relay. Thats usually the easier option as you just plug it in inplace of the standard flasher relay. Its what i did on my car years ago.

I got a Diode Dynamics SmartTap flasher relay. It gets rid of hyper flashing and adds a couple of feature I like - tap to turn and also keeps the blinkers on for about 10 sec when you lock the car to light the way.

+1 for this, I love the 'blinker on' feature upon unlock/lock :thumbs:

I have mine set to 20 seconds, it lets me drop the roller door and get out of the garage in a nice orange glow.

How do you I install the flasher relay? If you have the load resistors installed can you still install the flasher relay?
