Hey guys,

Looking for a really basic shift light that I can wire up to come on at 6,000rpm. Do I need anything special to run this off the stock ECU? Useful when I am using paddles in manual mode

Something really basic like this:

The product and supplier don't seem to exist anymore, but the theory & fitting notes make an interesting read.

EDIT - see also http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.ht ... -Up&A=2096 and https://www.chiptorque.com.au/shift-light/

Obviously I've done a google search for "autospeed shift light"

I have a pivot shift lamp in mine, my model is no longer made though.
The chiptorque is a decent unit and a number of members had them back in the day.

I'm sure you have thought of it, but perhaps swapping in a STI cluster from the 08-14 STIs?

They have a programmable shift light and audible warning aswell from factory.

That brings its other pros and cons though.

I didnt think the SH has a tacho feed from the ECU to the instrumentsl cluster like earlier models. I thought it used CAN to communicate the info? In which case your probs gonna have a fun time hooking it up lol.

Damn, that sounds bad - will see if a CAN shift light exists

Don't particularly want to swap the cluster

Looks like you can get CAN shift lights that plug into the odb2 port

This video suggests simply connecting power/ground, and attached to 1 wire from the cluster. That is an 09 WRX, so I assume the same. Will give it a go when it gets here
