G’Day Guys,

Got my MY18 Forester XT Premium.
Kitted her up with 17” S-Edition enkei rims with BFG AT’s, Primitive triple armour, and SSD bar with 7” LED Spotlight, however I need help wiring these driving lights up!!

So the XT premium has the auto levelling LED hi/low beam headlights.
I have had the car at two different auto elecs, and neither of them have been able to wire it up!
I’ve called a couple of Subi dealers and noone seems to give me (or the auto elecs) an indication of how or where to wire these into a high beam trigger.
The auto elecs tell me they’ve gone over the headlights themselves, and the stem at the steerinng column for access to a trigger - but no joy...

Has anyone done this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Could you tap into the high beam relay in the mainbox?

Id suggest investigating whether a can-bus interface would be suitable. Without looking at the vehicle myself, i cannot comment if it is the solution. But worth investigating. Something like this may be the answer.

http://www.extraljuskungen.com/installa ... -high-beam

Alternatively. I would imaging the feed could be pulled from INSIDE the headlamp assembly. Although this is most likely a fairly involved job just in order to check, as you would probs need to remove the front bar, lamp and inspect inside if its possible.

Also, just because 2 so-called auto elecs couldnt do it, that does not mean its not possible. It just means you probably lucked out with in-experienced techs, or possibly time constraints forced them to abandon the search for a solution. (Hard to justify charging multiple hours to find the feed, when the whole job would typically only take between 1 to 2 hrs.)

If you were in WA, i would be happy to give it a go for you.

Excellent, I will have a look into this canbus interface.
Looks like it could well do the do trick!

And yes, I may go and see a third auto elec next week - the subi dealer recommended this one! Try my luck there.

Never thought driving lighta could be such a hassle!
