Just wondering if anyone has come across an enclosure or similar that will allow a double din head unit to be placed above the clock on my MY06 XTL and replace the existing little storage box with flip up lid?

I've recently replaced the stock Subaru head unit with a nice Kenwood one and find that if you glance at the screen whilst driving, even if just to look at who is calling, it takes your peripheral vision too far away from the road ahead and think something that sits higher on top of the dash would be much much better.

Yes, they are available, and come up on here from time to time. One was for sale late last year, but is already sold.

I just sold one a few days ago.

you can buy from subarugenuineparts from USA
Warning: Subaru double DIN is smaller than normal double DIN, the housing in the links by SAV above looks small . Ask for the dimensions first.
Even the one I sold needs minor dremeling to fit any aftermarket double din.

I only posted up his model specific.

Normal double din fit perfectly in pre-facelift version...

Thanks for all the replies! It's great to know there are options out there. I'll look to get one shortly to fit the aftermarket double din Kenwood i have now.

Any suggestions on finding something to fit the old stereo space once i pull it out? little shelf or something?

Not really interested in gauges, more looking for practicality :) Somewhere to put phone etc.

SAV= the pods fit the car but often does not fit the aftermarket headunit without some minor dremeling of the face. It's well documented https://www.subaruforester.org/vbulleti ... lem-78618/

Kearns = I have a 2x single din drawers I can sell to you if you like.

It worked fine with my old SG with both a Clarion and Android Headunit
