Looks like my CD's are stuck in the (type A) double din CD stacker on my Forester.

Have tried disconnect of battery for hard reset and am getting an eject all message on screen when I turn car on with head unit not on and then when activating it.

The icon on screen that was visible for CD and how many in (in bottom left of screen) is not showing up.

Any tips?

Time for a new head unit.

If the cds are of importance you can rip the old unit apart to retrieve them.

Ok,so it's a dead end on the CD player.

The CD's are all CD-rom burnt music so not of any major concern.

Thanks for the reply. :)

I don't know if it's any good to you, but we have a functional OEM double-din head unit from a 2006 XS Luxury in a cupboard at my place if you can give it a good home.

Thanks for that VERY kind offer though I am looking at a Pioneer Double DIN head unit plus some 6" component speakers (with tweeters) in front door and 4" 2 way speakers in rear door and have my Auto Electrician buddy install them all.

As below -

Does anyone know if those items would fit comfortably in a 2002 Forester GT?

Edit - google search is telling me 6.5" speakers are in front door and 4" in rear door.

Front speakers will most likely need spacers.

There are many posts that say upgrading your rear speakers isn’t worth it as your sound stage is from the front. As such better to save on rear speaker and get good front speakers. Each to their own. Good to also add some sound deadener eg Dynamat to all doors - improves the sound quality and can reduce some road noise.

From since I was a late teen (in the 90's) and mega keen into the car sound scene I've had exactly the same point of view on that front speaker as you jonp

This is what I got -

6.5's in front door and the 4's in rear door with the amp powering the 6.5's.
