I posted in the wiring info thread but though I'd post here too :)

This may be of interest to some.. Courtesy of Neeko off rexnet

And to also make life a bit easier here are the instructions I made to disable the safety function the Headunit comes with.
Enables you to actually be able to call people through the Headunit while moving as well as adjust settings and input and address for the SatNav.

Also note an easier way to remove the facia is to tilt the screen and simple pull it by grabbing it from underneath and to earth out the cable you can also use a female plug (not sure of the name)
on an existing one thats depicted in step 6 underneath the headunit bolt.

I asked the question about allowing DVD function whilst driving

Yep sure does!

damnit, would have liked to have seen this couple weeks ago, just took out my stock h/u. I rang a few people in SA about removing the restrictions, they all said that it was too hard cos it knew when the car was moving and stationary, as well as having a handbrake cutoff. They obviously didn't know ****. One of them even quoted me minimum $350-500 for doing a custom mod to remove the restrictions cos there wasnt a mainstream one available. I said thats dumb I may as well just buy a new one for that sort of cash. So that's what I did.

So what are the cops going to say if you have a DVD playing "for the passengers" whilst driving? Is it an offence (in SA)? I would be keen to do the mod, maybe even put in a hidden switch to revert back to standard if needed.

I dot see how having a DVD on is any different or distracting than having the satnav screen on..

It would depend on what material is playing on the sat nav at the time haha

Can anyone tell me what isnt supposed to work once the car is in motion ?

I can pretty much do everything and anything with mine so I'm not sure if it had already been bypassed before I bought the car or the unit is faulty ?

Heaps of menu functions won't work if on the move, but easiest way to tell... Stick a DVD in while stationery, press play, watch movie then start moving. If DVD keeps playing then its all good
