Best to go off the pinout, not the wire colour. :geek:

So it would be the 4th pin spot

Did this on MY09 today, worked a treat. Can finally re-enter an address into GPS while moving, was so annoying before. As someone mentioned, need to ensure the plug is facing with clip up when counting pins. Was a purple wire in my case as well.

Did this on the weekend to my wife's car (09).

It was the purple wire and it has worked a treat.

I found crimping the extension wire onto the purple wire to be necessary (as opposed to soldering) because the short wiring looms don't give much opportunity to get into the behind-dash-fascia zone with a soldering iron.

Had the same problem - short wiring loom. Managed to pull it out far enough for my wife's small hands to get behind.

Performed this bypass this afternoon. On my 09 (MY10) the wire was purple with red stripe. I followed the pictures on the first page and can now input addresses into the Sat Nav whilst on the go. I'm guessing I couldn't do that before :).
