Just wondering if anyone has fitted 2002 Sti jap seats to fit into 2012 SH Foz, I'm also wondering how to trick the airbag system to think the airbag plug is still plugged in or how to get rid of the light in the cluster.

Wasn't there a trick with a resistor plugged into the airbag plug?

Quick search on google for "Subaru airbag resistor" gets heaps of hits saying 3.3Ohm .5W resistors are all you need. Can even get an OEM part that costs 20USD according to iwsti.

Some hits - e.g. a Youtube vid i randomly clicked - say you can use .25W ones aswell, though i'd personally say more is better. While the quarter watt ones might fool the SRS into thinking there is an airbag, i'm not too keen on having >3A@12V (36W) being blasted through a tiny resistor in the case of a crash under my butt.

Insurance will love it if you crash.

you'd have to fit the seats to your rails......somehow.

How is it in oz with that? Surely you can fit aftermarket seats and not all of them will have airbags in them.
Or are you guys just as shackled as we are here in germany, if it's not certified for the car or general automotive use, you're not allowed to install it?

I don't think it will be a problem if the airbag light is off with Sti seats.

If the airbag light is on, that means the airbags most likely wont deploy in the event of a crash. Not a problem?

Must be in VGC seats to want to fit 2002 models into a 2012.

With regards to the mounting points. 3 out of the 4 mounting points will match. The 4th will not. What needs to be done is simply cut of the incorrect foot form the frame, and re-weld the correct foot on. Pretty straight forward. No need to muck around trying to swap rails and bases and all kinds of crap like that.

I have done the opposite swap in the past. That is, fit late model seats into the early model vehicle. The way the "feet" attach to the frame is by these huge rivets. Simply drill them out and then the foot will seperate. Then you can use your existing foot and put it on and weld er up.

You will probably also have to swap the seatbelt buckle reciever.

Yes, that was a typo.

They are in extremely good condition, and they won't look out of place in my S-Edition. Thanks for the info.
