Team,

As topic says, what do u use to remove grease from your roof lining/interior trim? I have a heap of black marks on my roof from constantly putting the MTB in and out.

Any ideas?

Cheers

You can get apolstry cleaner in a can from auto stores etc, but I havent tried how effective it is with grease.

Carby cleaner? That stuff is pretty aggressive, seen it destroy some plastics. Bet you tested it in a not noticable spot just encase it backfired ey?
;)

Hi all

I recently cleaned some small scuff marks off my roof lining with a damp cloth and light cleaning solution. I got rid of the scuff but when it dried it left a bigger brown ring around the area that was wet during cleaning.
I've tried this twice, the second time ensuring I was using very fresh, clean water/cloth, but same result.
Is there something under the roof lining that could be causing this when it gets wet? Or am I just cleaning it in the wrong way?
TIA.

I always go for the easiest less aggressive method first and having being involved detailing for a few decades I would go to the local supermarket and pickup a bottle of Vanish Napisan Oxi Action Gel or Vanish Preen Ultra De-greaser, RB the company that owns this brand puts a lot of RD $ into these products and they work really well and are cheap (compared to car detailing branded products) ideally you would let it soak a little while then use a hot water extractor, (you can hire them for a few hours from the supermarket) as trying to rub the stain is really just moving the stain around and likely making it look worse.

contact cleaner will do it.
white can with blue lettering, maybe CRC brand, dont have any at home now.
dries very quickly no residue, all auto shops usually have it.
mechanics and sparkies use it at work to clean plugs, electrical terminals etc on busses, wicked for cleaning your hands quickly but its cold and leaves your hands dry, always wash normally once the residue is gone.
$15 upwards a can
goodluck

forgot to mention..
if you spray bigger ants with a light mist ( don't wet them up) they will curl up and look dead, when the light wet residue quickly evaporates the ants stand up and move along.
its funny to watch if you get the spray mix right
