There was a week here where Subaru sent a team of guys from interstate to our only dealer here in Darwin and basically pushed everyone through in that week. I took the car there and dropped it off at 7:45am, I got a call at 9am saying it was done.

I was really worried due to Darwin Subaru's awful reputation but when they said they were getting a specific team to do it I was put a bit more at ease, and the sheer speed was amazing because I expected a half day atleast.

I had the passenger airbag as well as secondary air pump recalls done yesterday. The dealer called about 3 hours later to say it was finished. Looks like they did a good job as I can't find any scratches or cracks. Interestingly, they didn't disconnect my battery (my head unit still had all its settings).

Perhaps all the paranoia about working on cars with airbags fitted is over-stating the risk.

I think so - If they went off with slightest bump they would be going off all the time when you hit potholes or the like.

But hey, disconnecting the battery is still cheap insurance :)

I dont disconnect battery when i unplug airbags. Never had one pop.

Airbag and associated connectors always have shorting pins as soon as the plug is seperated. If you short the airbag, then its impossible to have a voltage difference across the airbag

I think i read on some (American) forum the recommendation to not only disconnect the battery but "press the brake pedal so the brake lights get the last bits of electricity out" (or similar)

Got my car back from the airbag recall.

Took out my stereo and gauges prior to dropping the car off.

Feeling a bit uneasy, noticed some broken plastic pieces on my passenger side floor and my DAB Antenna plug is squashed up behind a panel.

Going to go over everything shortly, hoping not to find anything else.

Thankfully not many km's on the car. Just over 1km was put on it so they took it around the block for some reason.
