I won't say this is a definitive answer but when I was researching this same topic I came away with the notion that you'd need 17's with a lower offset to clear the brembo caliper. The stock XT wheel does not clear brembos or WRX 4pots, but will fit Liberty GT calipers (I just installed mine yesterday). I think the +48 offset on the stock XT wheels is what kills it, I'm not sure what the Enkei offset is but if it's the same then I doubt it will fit.

AFAIK, WRX 4pots do not fit under 7'' rims and are not an upgrade either.
Go for Lib GT 05+ calipers http://www.ozfoz.com.au/forum/viewtopic ... 0d7be3afe7

Yep I fitted the front and rear Lib GT 05+ calipers after reading this http://www.ozfoz.com.au/forum/viewtopic ... 0d7be3afe7
and considered the cost of Brembos ouch!

True, having thought about it today, considering i have no intention to track the car, or have any suspension mods (and not planning too) ill probably just stick to some decent rotors and pads. I'm thinking maybe just get some DBA T2 and possibly some Ebc red front and rear. Am I wasting my time with the original forest of brakes or do you think this will be a significant upgrade. Thanks

Edit: are these any good

New rotors and pads will be an improvement. Liberty calipers would be an additional added improvement.

I've literally just put mine on yesterday - Lib GT calipers (Gen5), DBA T2, QFM HPX pads front and rear, stock brake lines and new Dot4 fluid. The difference between stock and that setup is massive. For the price you'll pay getting new rotors and pads, you could find a set of OEM Lib GT calipers/rotors/pads. I have OEM Lib GT pads that you can have for free if you want to pay postage.

Costs for my setup:
Calipers - $150
DBA T2 rotors - $280 (from memory, around that anyway)
QFM HPX - $79 x2 (front and rear)
Misc - $60 (VHT gloss black paint, clear coat, brake cleaner, brake fluid

WRX 4pots use the same size rotor as the stock SH Forester, albeit with more pistons in the caliper. There's more even clamping power but no extra mechanical advantage as the rotor diameter is the same. The Lib GT rotors are 316mm compared to stock 294mm (Brembo's suit something like 330mm IIRC).

Yeah good point,

Where can I buy the calipers for $150? Also, do the stock brake lines go on without issue?

I found the rotors,

Thanks for the offer for the pads mate, but I think I'll just buy new QFMs also

I scoured facebook marketplace and gumtree and found a local guy selling calipers and rotors from his old Gen5 Liberty, so I picked up the calipers and pads from him for $150. You may be able to get them from a wreckers pretty cheap, otherwise join club liberty's forum and have a look at their for sale section.

Stock lines fit right up - no need to change them unless you want to. I kept the stock rear rotors as they're in decent condition and I didn't see the value in replacing them with DBA's. I'll replace them later on but for now they're fine.
