If you want genuine bang for your buck, I'd recommend some STi strut/springs. I've got MY08 kit on my SH and they perform very well with the stock spring rates. I believe the MY11+ are a little more aggressive as the MY08/09 were soft in comparison, so they would be worth looking at.

Rears are a direct bolt on, fronts require a little bit of work and 2x M12 washers. I picked up a full set of MY08 STi struts/springs for $150. 6hrs of labour between myself and two mates with a few beers and they were in. Get an alignment, albeit limited with camber options in the rear but I came away with -2.1deg rear camber, fronts will likely require adjustable top hats fitted (do it before you put them in) so you can get some more negative camber on the front.

I had MCA XR's (purple) on the 06 STi, optioned with stiffer springs (9kg front/10kg rear) - they were magic.

Running 2010 sti take off's on my 2009 sh forester. Pro's are good handling and not harsh at all.
