Wow, the wanker level just went through the roof. So first the insurer is going to identify that the brakes aren't standard, and are smaller than stock fitment, then they are going to go to the effort of searching ozfoz on the off chance there is a thread there about it? Piss off dickheads xD

My comments have nothing to do with insurers in the case of an accident.

They are more about the type of person you seem to be by your suggestion. Maybe you could get a job as a dodgy used car dealer if you ever need a job.

Ultimately, whatever you do is your choice, just don't come here and expect validation of that choice.

I still dont see the attraction with people putting Lib brakes on foresters anyways. They are big, heavy and ugly. By the time you buy a used set of calipers, get some fresh rotors and pads and fluid and lines and dick about painting them etc, your already past half way to buying a brand new set of proper 'big brake kit' anyways, which come with multi piston opposed billet alu construction calipers, multi piece rotors, new pads, lines and anything else needed to fit in a ready to go kit.

About the time id consider doing the lib swap was if you just happen to have them or get them for bugger all.

Crash assessors can and will find out. If the car is involved in a major accident where there is a large payout at stake, you can guarantee they will do whatever they can to deny liability.

If you had illegal suspension (coilovers) and you took out a street light there is a high chance they won't pay your claim.

Imagine if the car you sold failed to brake crashed into and derailed a freight train carrying 20 million worth of product.....

Exactly what Bob said!

Morally it's not cool to remove higher-spec, factory-fitted brakes from a car, replace them with lower-spec brakes, and then onsell the car to an unsuspecting buyer. Put yourself in the shoes of a future purchaser... and I'm sure you'll realise why this is not the right thing to do.

Aside from the moral aspect, the poor bugger will be very confused when he/she (or his/her mechanics) goes to install new brake pads and wonders why the pads they have ordered are way too big...

Thanks to those who went to the effort of explaining to me why it's a bad idea. I've decided to leave them where they are and purchase new kit for the Foz.
