Hi all

I installed MCA’s and I don’t think my car is obnoxiously low BUT the fronts are rubbing on mild cornering. The damper is set to hard settings with minimal bounce through cornering.

I currently have stock wheels but plan to get 18x9.5. I want to know, apart from lifting the front has anyone had luck cutting their splash liner to remedy the rubbing?

Their is no way you should have to cut anything to fit the coilovers.

Sounds like you’re misunderstanding suspension settings, with what you’ve said about dampers. It’s the springs that are more an issue from what you’re saying.

Did you buy the MCAs new? Speak to Josh at MCA, it sounds like your geometry is out. If it’s rubbing up high under the wheel arch, you’ve got too much travel, and that will need to be remedied by getting them readjusted. Somewhere in my own buildthread is a pic of MCA’s explanation sheet.

Additionally, what offset are your rims? 2.5”+ wider rims is in the territory of having trouble with tyres rubbing, so the geometry needs to be correct. +36mm to +48mm offsets are street legal for the Forester, so going extra wide is going to cause trouble, so there’s a limit to ‘stancing’ a Forester without doing other things to the vehicle (many have done so before, so just keep searching on ozfoz).
