Do all the stamps/markings on the inside of wheels mean something? I know about rim size, width and offset but interested if the other stamps mean something? See example below.Image

MAT = most advanced technology. Enkies trade name for cast wheels that are then "spun" to create a psuedo forged rim. Spinning is where you spin the metal object and use mandrels to force it into shape. So MAT rims are still a cast but then spun to create a strong enough but still cheap to produce rim. (Bottom right of picture, 4 O'clock)

549kg = rim load rating. This is the maximum load that the rim can safely carry. (Left of picture, 9 O'clock) Unsure what the E09 below it is, it may possibly be a date stamp.???

18x8J - 53 = the rim diameter, width and offset. (Upper right, 2 O'clock.)

Enkie branding and logo on the bottom. The little circle next to it *may* be a date marker of manufacture.

Im unsure what the upper numbers mean. "M 6RG7 xxx" They could be stamped in by a QC inspector. (They look stamped or etched and not part of the casting.) So perhaps done as part of the QC process further down the manufacturing process.

Thanks Bram.

I checked another set of wheels and it also has two little circles. One is 10/12 and the other is 2S/D2 (I think it is that or it could be 25/02 - not sure). They are from a 2011 Forester so the 10/12 could be the build date of December 2010?

I will have a closer look at what is on my other wheels as the photo is not clear.

I am interested as they are JDM Enkei STi 18x8 +53 5x100 wheels so trying to work out what car they are from.

From my reading, I thought all Legacy wheels were +55? That said, they are the same design as 2008 Liberty tbSTi wheels.

+53 was more WRX or early STi. I don't think they are STi as I think STi have been 5x114.3 since about 2005. So that leaves me with WRX.

Not sure? Keen to hear from those that know more :)

53 and 55 are so close the difference would be hard to tell without knowing they are 53 or 55. Ive got pubes thicker than 2mm...

So true - about so little difference. I won't comment on your pubes :)

I am only using the offset as a way to narrow down what car the wheels may be from. This is the style....
