My very limited experience would suggest that SG Foresters have +48 offset wheels and SH have +44 and that both have the same bolt pattern. I could very easily be wrong, so please set me straight.
But my real question is does that amount of difference matter? I'm chasing a second set of wheels, one for road use only and one for mild off-roading. I see wheels with both offsets available pretty cheaply on the second hand market. Keen for some informed advice.

Forester offset is +48. The higher the offset, the closer the wheel will be to the struts. A higher offset and a wider rim can cause rubbing in the strut. A lower offset means the wheel will be closer to the guard. Again, low offset and wider wheels can result in running of the guards.
