Hello everyone,

I've just purchased a Subaru Forester, MY18 2.5iL and looking to get up some fire/access trails similar to the ones around the Mt. Cooke and Mt Randall area's in WA. The tracks are gravel, with some steep sections and the occasional washed out rut (you can probably can drive around the ruts and not straight through them).

I'm pretty confident the stock Yokohama Geolander G91 225/60R17 will do the trick, however I'm considering putting some more durable A/T tyres on.

The local Bob Jane has recommended the following tyres:

- Bridgestone Dueler A/T 225/60R17 (99H D697 RBT) for $225 each
or the
- Pirelli Scorpion A/T 225/60R17 (99H SC-ATR) for $215 each

I've had a look through this forum and it seems that the recommendation is to put some 16" wheels on for a better range of tyres.

So my question's are:

Is it necessary to put 16" on?
OR
Are the above options for 17" reasonable choices? Will the above options rub on the wheel arch?
Alternatively
How durable are the stock Yokohama's, does anyone have experience in taking these off road?

Cheers :)
