Loving my new E85 TH tune, and I want to pull the trigger and purchase a VF46 turbo.. after trying to suss out wreckers I found OEM new VF46 turbos for sale from USA.

However when I select the 'is it compatible' thing at the bottom (for a SH XT Forester) it says that its not compatible - now I imagine thats just because its defaulting to what people use those turbos for Liberty / Legacy etc

I just wanted to check with the forum to make sure all VF46's are the same and I won't be stung with a slight variation model..

Part Number: 14411AA670

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-VF46-14411AA670-FOR-Subaru-Legacy-Outback-2-5L-OEM-IHI-Turbocharger-Turbo-/131814843777?epid=718940747&hash=item1eb0c6e581:g:v5UAAOSwawpXuVvB

Any assistance appreciated.

Cheers

Hi conrad8,
I bought a used VF46 on ebay and the seller claimed it had a new CRC insert. Which turned out to be true.

I took it to MTQ Turbos at Archerfield to inspect and they said these VF46 are no longer in service here, even through Subaru Parts.

So my question for the USA seller, would be is their new VF46 actually a new Kinugawa or other reproduction?

Others may have personal experience with Kinugawa or other turbos here?

Cheers Al

Thanks Mate - great point.

You're right a lot of the ebay VF46 turbochargers are missing the embossed IHI thats on the real OEM units.

Hey conrad8, If you let TH know that you are chasing a VF46, he could keep eye out for you, as I bought a used VF46 through TH that came off a Lib with only 42,000km on the clock. It looked very new when I picked it up and was checked before install, now in my Foz it is running perfect, absolutely have had no trouble at all.
It's just a thought as I know you are taking a chance on a second hand one.
