G'day guys

The battery on my Forester 09 XT is weak so I decided to buy the Projecta Pro-Charge Battery Charger - 12V, 2-8 Amp to recharge it. When I read the manual, it asks me to find out if the battery is POSITIVELY EARTHED or NEGATIVELY EARTHED. I think it is POSITIVELY EARTHED as there is a cable coming out from the POSITIVE to a nut on the chassis. I googled about it and a lot of people say modern cars are mostly NEGATIVELY EARTHED so I am confused now.

I have attached some photos below so everyone can have a look and please let me know if the battery is POSITIVELY EARTHED or NEGATIVELY EARTHED.

Thanks a lot in advance everyone,
Tim

Subarus are negative earth, like 99% of cars.

The only "positive earth" cars I've ever seen are some vintage pommy cars with a big sticker warning the user that the battery polarity is @rse-about.

If ever in doubt, grab a multimeter and set it to continuity or resistance mode and check between the chassis and the terminals of the battery.
But it'll be negative ground, like the others suggested.

I can see that ending in tears ... and smoke. Much better on a VOLTAGE setting.

I should clarify, after disconnecting the battery.

I'd say more then likely that your battery might need replacing soon. Going by the date on the sticker it looks like it is over 5 years old.
