getting similar readings on my, now on 3rd tank of fuel since ownership and fuel economy has only gotten worse and worse; while ive been using less of the right foot etc..

when i first got the car from qld it was hovering around 12.5ltr

managed to get it to hover around 14... still nothing fantastic (92k kms) daily commute for me is 11km with 90% of it at 90kmph on the highway. doesn't seam to matter if i baby it all the way or let it warm up.

i have also tried doing 100k and then filling up, only to be disappointed at the 22ltrs i put in on click!!!! :?

i have been told by a few guys subaru generally have a rich tune from factory; going on the dyno soon so will let you know if it gets better.

guys confirm that something like thiswill work?

thanks

Possibly.

If it doesn't work, or it causes error codes to go apesh!t, then get a different ebay one for less than $25.

They are a bit of a lucky dip, even among units that appear to be the same, even from the same vendor sometimes.

I'm getting 300-350 per tank.

Anyone recommend good tuning places in Brisbane that won't cost too much?

Just started the car up from cold. Was running rich for 5-10 minutes before running at normal fuel ratio. it should warm up quicker if it's driving around instead of idling. I'll monitor while driving next.

Road tune by TH is another option.

That sounds like a long time running rich after a cold start. That might be a big part of your fuel economy issue. I'll watch mine more closely tomorrow morning, but from memory it's usually running at stoich by the time the secondary air pump switches off and i've been able to get the torque app fired up (eg about a minute).

EDIT The above is true on checking this morning. I would add that, until the coolant temperature is warm enough the car will keep the AFR at stoich rather than let it drift to "lean" in a throttle-off cruise down a hill. END OF EDIT

Perhaps set your torque app to check coolant temp too, just to make sure the car is seeing the coolant warm up in a normal way. On an 8 degree morning with 1 minute of idling then mild suburban driving i'm usually above 50 degrees within a few km and at 87-93 degrees (depending on car movement/stopping) within a few more km.

Yeah, I use Coyote. First tune is about normal fees (PM me for details) but subsequent tunes/changes much cheaper.

I suspect ThrottleHappy is cheaper and (with road-tuning rather than dyno tuning) might end up with a more economical tune for the road.

If it's been flash tuned previously it could be several things..
Under-boosting issue causing excess un-burned fuel.
The tuna could have been a little overzealous with fuel map(s) in general, etc.
Kinda obvious but autos generally will be thirstier than manuals.

A team member at my work has an S-Edition, when we all pile in for the monthly team lunch his economy is usually between 12.xL and 14.xL..
Our XTP manual is typically always somewhere between 9.8L - 11L depending time of week/how much I have been driving vs wife etc.

My stock s is getting 11.5 around town and 9.5-10ish on the highway depending how fast I wasnt to go.

Seems pretty odd to me to be that high if it hasnt got a tune.

I bought mine from sydney and even then it was gettin 12.5ish city driving?

But if You flog it. Ive got it up around 16L before hahah

Im not much help when it comes to fixing your economy issue sorry, but I seem to be around the same as others on here. 11-13L/100 all pretty much suburban driving. 400-450kms per tank and I dont flog it
