Just bumping this back up -

My temps still seem a bit iffy to me.

Downhill I am around 80c-85c, soon as I get some flat stretch of road Temps will climb to about 92c give or take.

Slight inclines with roughly 1/4 throttle, so not alot of load the car will get up to 98c

These are not slow speeds, is there something wrong with my cooling system or is this normal?

Not sure about SH but with SG XT and you would assume similar cooling system my rad cooling fans always kick in at 95-96 deg c and bring down temps to low 90's and with the Forester moving and airflow through the rad, normal driving as such I never see over 90 deg c, only creeps up to 96 deg c idling for periods in traffic. Never done a track day with the Forester so i don't know how the cooling system copes with constant WOT heat but it's always been this way since owning the car and I've replaced all cooling system components when the oem rad split.

The temps & behaviour in the original post seem excessive.

My (SH) cooling system is basically OEM. 87-89 degrees is the usual operating range, going up to low nineties in harder (non track) conditions.

This seems to be the most remarkable symptom of something amiss (eg a head gasket issue?)

Mine is around 80-89 in traffic (fans set to come on at 89) open road around 85-90 and on steep inclines it creeps up to around 98.
Partial throttle on milder inclines will see it run to about 92 degrees.
Mishimoto radiator installed which hasn’t brought about a large change in temps but I feel a bit more comfortable with it in there.
