Hi Guys

I'm looking to upgrade my radiator and just wanted to double check if anything listed for a GR/GV STi will be a perfect fit for the SH Forester XT?

By perfect I mean a direct bolt in, without drilling any extra holes, making custom brackets or trimming anything? Can anybody confirm either way?

Happy to do a bit of fiddling but I'd like to know exactly what is required before going ahead.

Any opinions on the best one to get? I've come across the lolzer ones on eBay and Mishimoto as well, is the Mishimoto worth the extra money? Any other options worth considering?

Cheers
Rod

Also, what options do we have for radiator hoses? Will GR/GV STi/WRX ones fit?

Mishi or Golpher radiators is what most people go with.

check something like subarupartsonline.com to see if the GR and SH radiators carry the same part number; if they do, you're sweet :)

I'd forgotten about Golpher ... that's what's in my SG!

Wow ... Mishimoto's warranty even covers accident damage?!?!

I remember about three months after buying my S15 brand new I had a small piece of PVC pipe the size of a 20c coin pierce my A/C condenser at the front of the car and I had to pay like a $1,000 to have it fixed.

So they are different Matt?

I thought they were because of the way the radiator shrouds sit, but didn't want to put my foot in it...

It was the radiator hose outlet dimensions and the core thickness in the SH9 engine bay as the issues from memory. Forget the specifics but it was part of the radiator group buy

Guys, radiator blew, urgently need a new one.

I like the quality of Koyo - does anyone know whether 08+ STI/WRX one’s fit? Like this one :
https://www.carmodsaustralia.com.au/alu ... -sti-08-16

I seem to have found a post on another forum of an SH owner saying he bought this model rad and that he has confirmation of fitment, however I didn’t see a definitive post from him later confirming the install.

I think there are also Mishimoto and Golpher options, however couldn’t really find either anywhere that are stated as SH specific.

Also not sure what I need for a trans cooler with an aftermarket rad - any advice?

If you have an auto, you'll need a trans cooler (I found out the hard way). I put a Mishimoto in mine, have used Koyo before and also an ebay special - all have done the job. Use the OEM cap and you may need to trim the hoses slightly if you're going with a thicker/alloy core.

Any rad that shows fitment with the SH will do the trick. The Mishi rad I have was previously fitted into a 2011 WRX - it was a straight swap but I needed the separate trans cooler. Mishi sell a generic trans cooler which I got from CMA and had my mechanic fit it for me. You can get away with plumbing the trans feed/return line together (aka bypass the cooler altogether), just don't drive the car hard until you get time to have the cooler fitted.
