Hey guys,

I've joined the ranks of the blown top-tank with my MY06 XT manual.

Has anyone dealt with http://radiatordirect.com.au before? They have replacements for ~~ $230 delivered, no pictures of the actual product but all other images on the site are alloy radiators...

Cheers,
Tim

never dealt with radiatordirect, but I would be very surprised if you get a full alloy radiator for that price. I got a koyo replacement (with plastic top tank) a few years ago for around $200 odd dollars.

Thanks guys.

Yes I'd seen the info re: the golpher radiator, but I'm out of work and coin is tight atm.

TBH this rad has lasted better than a decade, if I can get anything approaching that out of a replacement (even if plastic tanked) it'll outlast my relationship with the car...

You may find that the Rad place you mentioned have a alloy core & plastic tanks.
If the coin is tight, try this guy:

Alloy core & plastic tank as well.

I plan to order a Rad for an old ute I have, from this guy. 2 year warranty & reasonable price.

As predicted it's a plastic/alloy tank, can't be disappointed compared to limping the car around in this heat.

Got myself 5L castrol concentrate/5L demineralised water. Anything tricksy to the swapout other than drain, unplug, unbolt, reverse the corpse?

Should I fill it with plain water and flush that through after the initial drain to remove the old coolant from the block?

I did this 'fill it with plain water and flush that through after the initial drain to remove the old coolant from the block'.

Burp the radiator hose to get the air out. Google it!

I would suggest replacing the thermostat & O'ring while you at it.
