Hey all!
So my car has just been for a 100k service. Timing belt, tensioners, idlers, pulleys and water pump were all replaced with new genuine parts as well as the fan belt.

Mysteriously the power steering now whines like crazy and its doing my head in, the mechanic had no answers as to how it came to be either.

The whine is apparent mostly with revs and will increase in pitch with higher rpms, but is not caused by turning the wheel. It is also intermittent, usually when driving the whine will come and go. I have tried to fix the issue by replacing the O-ring in the PS inlet, and by making adjustments to the tension on the accessory belt. No luck so far.

Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

Appreciate it!

Does it still have the standard clamp on the power steering hose (on the pump)?

If so replace it with a hose clamp, ensure its tight and bleed the power steering.

mine will pretty much always whine when cold.. I can start the car and let it idle, PS will be silent. As soon as I turn hard out of my driveway it will whine and continue to do so for 5 or 10 minutes whilst driving. Then on it would come and go occasionally

We get the same, once warmed it's fine also.
Trying to source replacement O-ring nfi where to go.. Don't particularly want a rubber if the FEP silicone is better.

"9319K14 Fep-encapsulated Silicone O-ring As568a Dash Number 014" is what I found on Nasioc for the PS inlet..
