Hey guys,
Wondering if you can help diagnose as issue i had today with my 06 SG XT.
(just over 200k with slight tune with TBE and STI TMIC)

Was idling at school waiting for the kids with the a/c on and noticed some smoke wofting past...got out and noticed it was coming out my exhaust. Not heaps, but enough to concern me.

Car seemed to drive home fine..so have checked the following:
-oil level fine with no signs of contamination
-coolant level in rad and res fine..with no signs of contamination

..and I can't seem to replicate the smoke at home with the car idling in the garage?! weird i know

Frantically googling now for more info...

-did notice some black splatter from the exhaust at home on the floor whilst idling..
-and smoke didnt smell like oil..but does smell rich

It's possible it's a seal in the turbo , especially if its the stock turbo .
They can blow a heap of smoke after left idling at times , if its that no huge deal just keep an eye out out for another replacement

My 07XT sometimes burns a lot on cold startup.

Check the short intake pipe between intercooler and throttle body, mine had a big oil puddle in there once when I checked. :( and I also think this is caused by turbo seals.

Can try running thicker oil, might not get past the seals?

Cheers guys,
Car ran fine yesterday with no smoke..?!
Will investigate more today when I have time. Maybe blow by? Might install a catch too and see if that makes any difference.

Catch can probably wont hurt but probably wont help either nor will thick oil - reads like turbo seal - my old gt did it . Car will run fine but blow smoke at certain random times usually morning start up and or long idling periods
