Does anyone know when will the SG9 Sti be eligible for import into Australia? And any idea for price landed?

**not looking for the option of living in Japan for a year**

If that 25yr thing is correct, then 2029.

they really should loosen the import laws now that there is no local industry to protect

The option of importing from Japan to another country while working there and then personally importing the vehicle when returning to Aus has probably closed also as most relevant countries have an 8 year old import restriction.

You could live and purchase/own a Foz STI already in another country for a year, e.g. New Zealand or the UK, and bring it back with you :dontknow:

My first car was a 1992 MR2 GT-S which was a JDM import to NZ, then brought over to Aus as a personal import. That's the quickest way to get a JDM car to Aus without waiting for the 25yr rule to apply. Not sure when the import laws will be relaxed - government dragging their feet as usual. I believe Japan also has increased taxes on vehicles over 5 years old so there's incentive for them to flog off their "old" cars to other markets.

they still have to protect the value of new cars, eg euro and jap and also the value of older cars, imagine if you could import **** loads of older low KM WRX's, what would that do to the current second hand market, it would kill it hard!!

I think the Government is trying to reach some sort of middle-ground, but they're obviously still leaning towards the regulation. They have, however, made efforts that should be appreciated, and imports to Australia in general have gone up (I think I read 25% as a figure somewhere).

For example https://www.wcshipping.com/blog/austral ... -laws-2018
