Thought I would make a brief intro thread on how to start tuning and what you will need:

1. You need to download EcuFlash Ver 1.44 which is here: http://www.tactrix.com/index.php?option ... &Itemid=65

2. MicroSD card logging: EcuFlash Ver 1.43+ allows you to then set up the MicroSD card in the tactrix to log data so you will not need RomRaider for logging :) To enable this system, you need to open EcuFlash, go to the help Menu, then click Licensing. In the pop up box, you only need to click Apply as no licence number is needed. I can then provide a logcfg.txt file which is saved to the memory card and will allow you to log data to the memory card without needing a laptop.

3. Other program you will need is called Learning View: http://www.romraider.com/forum/download ... p?id=14215
Unzip the Learning View file and save the program somewhere. Learning View can be used quite easily, just connect the Tactrix to the car and laptop, turn ignition on, open Learning View and press connect :) Press Screenshot in the program and you can then email me the screeenshot which will be in the folder where Learning View is :)

Downloading and uploading tunes will be in my next post :)

Procedure for SH Forester / GH WRX / GR STi

Downloading the stock tune(I keep backups anyway)
Turn ignition to ON position
Plug in the Tactrix to car and computer
Open EcuFlash
Click the 'Read from ECU' button
Choose Subaru CAN etc
Press Read
Then press OK
Wait for the ECU to download the existing tune which takes around 3 minutes
Turn ignition off
Turn ignition to the ON position for 15 seconds, then turn ign off for 15 seconds
Let the engine idle for 60 seconds with AC off before driving the car to allow the ECU to find a stoich mixture and calibrate the AVCS system
You can now start the car as nothing is changed on the ECU except you now have a backup copy of stock tune :)

To load in a new tune:
First thing: Open the attached file in EcuFlash
Confirm it opens without any problems
Turn the ignition to the ON Position
Connect the Tactrix to car and laptop
In EcuFlash, you will now be able to select 'Test Write to ECU'
Press OK
It will now go through a 'test flash' which does not actually change anything. This just rules out any chances of error
There will be some YES and NO on the screen, ignore them. We just want the final result to be Test Flash Completed OK etc.
Ideally the First 3 YES/NO should all be a YES, most importantly the first one should be a YES
Turn ignition off for 15 seconds, then turn ignition back to ON position
Once this has confirmed OK, you can now select Write to ECU to load in the new ROM file
Same procedure, wait for it to finish loading
Press OK once it has finished
You can now turn the ignition OFF for atleast 15 seconds
Turn the Ignition back to the ON position for atleast 15 seconds which is to do a throttle reset procedure
Now turn the ignition OFF for atleast 15 seconds
Car is now safe to start with the new tune loaded :)
