Hi guys,

I had a sudden bearing noise from the passenger side rear of the 01 SF NA, non-ABS. When I removed the hub, roller bearings fell out everywhere, the cages were broken.

I've purchased a bearing kit and pressed the race into the knuckle, however when I removed the race from the hub I noticed the hub shaft is heavily pitted and worn. I'm guessing under load the race was moving on the shaft. I've spoken to a mate who is a mechanic and he said it's very common.

Since Friday I've been attempting to source a new or used hub with no luck. SuperCheap, Repco etc cannot source one.

An online seller stocks part number 28469FE000 for $90 however says they will not suit my car (VIN JF2SF5KJ42G06XXXX). They state 28052FC000 is the correct part number, and is NLA.

I called the nearest Subaru dealership which claimed my VIN is missing a digit (which it is not, I read from a very clear photo I have taken recently, and also the registration, they match), and when looking up part 28469FE000 it is $332.

So far wreckers will only sell me the entire knuckle assembly with hub at $200+ and will not remove the hub to check for wear, plus I'd need to take a day off from work to pick up.

Does anyone know which is the correct part number for my car, and have a source for one?

Thanks!

Thanks for that, which part number are you referring to? Can you please supply a link? It was Amayama I was dealing with who told me they cannot supply the part.

This is the part they said won't fit, it's $90 and appears to be the only Subaru hub they sell:

I went on the Amayama site and searched 28469FE000, it showed 2 in stock in Australia. I'm not 100% sure, but I think as Robbks said, there would be a few part numbers that would do the job. I would definitely check the bearing on the other side as well, I was getting bearing noise in mine a while ago, no sign of play or noise when jacked up and spun by hand, on disassembly both bearings were dry and sounded like old skateboard wheels. I didn't realize how noisy they had become until I replaced them.

Thanks for that. Yep I can definitely get 28469FE000 easily, can anyone confirm they fit?

I do plan to do both sides, and already purchased two bearing kits.

A local shop had this in stock but the item listed for my car is completely different. Looks like it should work?

$200 and came with a bearing kit, hopefully I can return my unopened bearing kit.

Not sure what the deal is with these, I'd have thought they'd be a common part.

Amayama no longer sell them, and I need another. I can't even find aftermarket hubs on eBay anymore without a wheel bearing kit, of which I already have two spare.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
