Hi all, I have finally decided to upload an ongoing thread about my forester. I purchased the car mid-2017 from an elderly man in the high country of Victoria.

The car did have issues which the gentleman was upfront about such as a cracked windscreen, overheating issue and a few other little bits. Before I began looking to buy a forester I did have some things in mind. The car had to be a facelift XT, and I wanted a manual gearbox. After speaking with the bloke numerous times over the phone the car ticked all my boxes. I was super excited to go have a look, and potentially buy my first Subaru. I set out with my Mrs and a couple buddies to go check it out! Sure enough, I was bitten and infected by the Subaru bug. I left the owner a deposit and returned 2 days later to drive it home.

And so here it begins! I am now the proud owner of an SG FOZ :drinks:

MY06 SG9. crystal grey. 5 speed.
Standard base model turbo, The vehicle was a single owner previous to me. completely stock. No sunroof, factory alloys, a standard head unit, cloth cream interior and a whole lot of dirt. Being that the car was from the country it mainly had highway kays and drove remarkably solid. After having the car for a number of weeks I started pulling it apart, as you do. :D So here is where I'm currently up to.

NEW / REPLACED / AFTERMARKET.
- New windscreen and sill.
- roadworthy and compression test. passed.
- New Oem radiator and overflow tank caps.
- New Oem water pump, thermostat, top & bottom radiator hoses.
- New Golpher alloy radiator.
- New front inner CV boot.
- New SuperPro front sway bar end links.
- New front sway bar bushes. Nolathane.
- New Whiteline steering rack ends.
- New rear camber bolts. Nolathane.
- Short Shifter.
- Dimple drain plugs. motor. gearbox and rear diff.
- Dba t2 rotor, Brembo pads. front. (current.)
- Bonnet gas struts.
- Sti intercooler.
- Sti sg9 cluster.
- Sti 5speed gear knob. rep
- Sti front bumper.
- Sti rear bumper.
- Sti/cross sports grille.
- Sti front and rear pods/spats.
- BC BR racing coilovers.
- Whiteline front strut tower brace.
- Ultra racing rear strut tower brace.
- Zerosports triple gauge pod.
- Defi rep gauges. boost. oil temp. water temp.
- Kenwood double din head unit.
- Avo turbo inlet.
- Interior swap. from cream cloth to grey/black leather. impreza front buckets. forester rear.
- Side window plastics swapped from silver to black, Exterior. behind the rear doors.
- Installed a rear wing as my car didn't come with one. still needs paint.
- New Ce28 wheels. reps, 18x8.5+40.

PARTS TO INSTAL.
- Brembo brake callipers.
- Front dba t2 gold series rotors.
- Rear dba t2 street series rotors.
- Brembo pads.
- Process west cold air intake.
- Hel braided brake lines.

I've got a few parts laying around that I want to address but I have more important things to fix like my overheating issue, most of the cooling system has been replaced and yet the car still manages to get hot. when I can afford to I'm going to replace the head gaskets along with the head studs. my plan is to use Roger Clark motorsport gaskets, Arp custom age 625 studs along with my fully freshened up heads. This should cover what I want to run in the future. vf48 turbo with supporting mods either until something brakes or I decide to build my motor. thanks all and ill try my best to update this thread as my build moves along.

Welcome

A grey/silver 06 SGT is a bl00dy good-looking car as a starting point.

Good luck with the head gasket, turbo & other engine work.

Once the motor is sorted i may use the car some sundays just for reasurance everything is correct and there arnt funny noises i dont yet know about.
