What's holding the mesh onto the plastic frame?

Thanks you two :D

You can see in the first photo a bit at the bottom but i drilled 2 small holes and then fed a cable tie through the holes and the mesh, i did this in every corner and 3 on top/bottom. Fairly hard to notice and didn't end up being too messy and it seems very secure, ill upload some pics if you're interested in the next couple days.

Heading off for the week on holiday but I've dropped the car off at the mechanic for some work.

Cars been idling like crap and i knew steering rack has been done for a while so im getting him to do the following:
- Spark Plugs (supplied ngk iridium)
- Check out OCV solonoids/valves
- New Steering Rack as its leaking from column
(asked for wrx if he had one that would be a straight swap)
- Provided new bushings for the rack aswell
- Install thicker up pipe gasket, may aswell if hes got the car on a hoist

When I'm back I plan to do a full fluid change, replace air/fuel filters and give the maf a clean.
Not sure what else to do at 270,000, any suggestions appreciated :D

and heres an update pic from washes with some friends the other day, gonna miss her

Bad news, poor idling wasn't fixed and as a result compression tests were done. 23 psi in cylinder 3... :(
Will go to another shop for second opinions and get a leak down test/check done and go from there.

After installation spark plug in the cylinder 3 looked brand new after a start up compared to the others,
but im not sure, looks as if im most likely in need of a new engine, will keep the thread updated with whats happening.

Sadly im back at university in a couple weeks but i have a Yaris im able to drive if needed, the car still runs but would rather not drive it until i know whats actually wrong.

What a b*gger of a thing.

Good luck with the next steps. Please keep the thread up to date with how it goes because it's an issue that could hit anyone.

Few updates:

Top Torque believes its ringland issue, mechanic thinks its an exhaust valve. Regardless decided im going to just do a stock rebuild, so i am currently saving for that.

Have replaced the mid section of my exhaust, cat was broken and had metal rattling around

Also finally installed the rear 2 pot brakes with dba rotors and HEL lines.

After everything mechanically is fixed im very excited to jump into a couple of cosmetic mods planned, but no spoil(er)s yet ;)
