So nothing has seemed to go according to plan so far, so why stop now.
Car was put onto the dyno but unfortunately something is going a miss with the timing. Mech said he thinks it may be a seized variable cam gear. So back in the shop tonorrow for further diagnosis.

A little longer to wait, but I am a patient man and much rather iron out all faults before it leaving the shop.

That's crap but as you said, better they get it right now than big problems later. Will be worth the wait.

I thought everything was coming together a bit too quickly and easily for the rebuild to exist in this reality.

At least you've found the second gremlin/delay now. The cam gear plus the block means that, according to the law of averages, you should be ok from here on.

*touch wood*

Were the AVCS system cleaned before re-installation. Probs have a piece of bearing in either the control valve, or in the actual gear itself.

Yeah that's exactly it, happy to wait the extra time to make sure it's all smooth sailing.

hahaha Yeah coming along quickly but at the same time he's had the car since the 12th and all my part were ready to go. Bottom end was delivered the next day after it was ordered.
Lots of wood has been touched......

As far I was aware, the AVCS system was cleaned. Mech said he'd keep me in the loop with what it ends up being the cause. He's been great so far keeping me up to date and with pics as well.
Will post more when I get the info.

Intake AVCS gears can be dis-seembled and cleaned. But putting them back together you need to centralise the inner hub otherwise they bind.

Outfront motorsports have detailed exactly how to do it, and how to build a special tool to help do it. Check out thier Youtube videos.

So I pick my car back up today.
All back and running with a run-in tune for now.
Will post up what I think of it in a few days
