My list of to-do mods is getting smaller. With no immediate mods planned I looked into what I could do to maintain my car. Cleaning/protecting it came to mind. A few months ago I protected my paint with a quartz coating (Gyeon Prime). It still looks great and makes the car SO much easier to clean. So I decided I would give my wheels a full detail and protect them with a quartz coating. So off they came and I then did the below to the inside and outside:

- Wash
- Wheel Cleaner (Duragloss)
- Clay (Dodo)
- Polish: Medium (Menzerna 2400)
- Gyeon Prep (to remove all traces of old wax, polish or oils)
- Gyeon CanCoat (quartz coating) x 2
- Gyeon Cure (extra protection)
- Tyre black (Duragloss)

The amount of contaminants the clay bar pulled off the inside of the very clean wheels was amazing - yes, I was being very pedantic in claying the inside of the wheels :)

To polish them I used a Mothers PowerCone 360. Safe to use, gets into the tight places and did a good job.

For the quartz coating I used Gyeon CanCoat. It was simply to use - spray on half a foam applicator pad. Wipe on to the wheel. Wipe off with a microfiber cloth. Done! The Gyeon CanCoat will last about 9-12 months. I didn't need to use much so I have plenty left in the bottle so will be applying it to other parts of my car including using it as a top up to my Gyeon Prime.

I was hoping for a bit more shine (given my wheels already looked near new I wasn't expecting much of a change) but mainly looking to make them easier to clean. The difference is noticeable in person but not really from the photo. They are cleaner, brighter, shinier :) I am happy with the result.

Was it worth the time, effort and money - not really given my wheels were already in good condition. In the future, I would only bother taking the wheels off and polishing them if there was noticeable marks and scratches. Next time I will leave the wheels on, give them a good clean and wipe on some more CanCoat - nice and simple. Until then I will enjoy the shine, the insane hydrobolic beading and the ease of cleaning the wheels just by spraying them (well almost).
