In my continued efforts to keep my car clean, I did a full exterior detail over the weekend. Previously I have used waxes and synthetic polymers. Most recently I have been using Duragloss 105 + 601 followed by Duragloss Track Claw. These synthetic polymers have provided great shine and lasts about 9 months.
Always wanting something ‘better’, and just to try something different, I detailed doing the following:
- Wash, with some APC
- Clay, Dodo Juice
- Wash
- Polish, Menzerna 2400 and 3500
- Surface clean, Gyeon Prep
- Quartz coating, Gyeon Prime x 2
- Spray sealant, Gyeon Cure
The quartz coating, and the other Gyeon products, were the new parts. I went with a quartz coating for 3 reasons. 1) This coating is meant to last about 12-18 months so longer time between full detailing. 2) Dirt repelling ability so helps stop dirty and other stuff sticking to your paint therefore easier to wash. 3) Gloss, the more the better. I will add a 4th, beading (just because they look great).
I can only comment on point 3 and 4 at the moment. The gloss is great! Much better than the other waxes or sealants I have used. I will add a photo but showing the gloss on white paint is more difficult to photograph than on other colours.
The beading is great - just started raining.....

Re: the application of quartz coating, it is very simple to apply but very timing consuming.
I am very much liking it so far
