Ive fitted a C spec quick rack part number 34110FG010 and I experienced issues with the VSC unit.

Pulled the plug on it and no more problems.

It seems there is one benefit of getting the 2.7 STi rack rather than the 2.4 quick rack :) Either way better than stock!

What are people’s thoughts on ALK? Does it make a big difference? Any negatives?

Seems like this could be jonp.

ALK was an improvement for me. Better turn in and overall geometry.

I wonder if the issue can be 'tuned out' via the ECU?

I have a 2008 GRB JDM STi 2.4 rack just sitting in the SH waiting for the engine to go back in...... So maybe it will not be an issue for mine?

Cheers Al

I believe that tuning the ECU will not help with this issue. Its hardware related.

I remember this post, hired-goon fitting and customizing his electronics in the SH. Great info.

I have the AVO ALK (with the 0.5 degree castor correction). I agree with the better turn in and less vagueness when cornering.
Any negatives? Well there is increased NVH - but there's nothing wrong with feeling the road IMO. Probably only annoying if you give your Granny a lift to the Bingo.

Whiteline ALK in mine, fitted recently along with the RCA kit. I enjoy the sharpness of the turn-in despite the flaws of the stock rack, but the NVH is quite annoying and I almost regret putting it in. If there was a "comfort" kit which I know Whiteline do for other models, I'd go with that option. I can't say how much NVH was added by the ALK as the RCA was put in at the same time, but both combined and on MY08 struts, there's a lot of NVH coming into the cabin.

It's strange because both of my previous 06 STI's had whiteline ALK - one on stock struts/lowered springs and the other on MCA XR coilovers - neither had the same harshness as the Foz. If you hit a line/crack etc on the road, you'll feel it, hear it and it almost echoes in the large cabin. Not pleasant but at higher speeds it transforms the handling - all about compromise!

On my understanding the Anti-Lift-Kit adds caster.

I don't have the Whiteline ALK, but i have the Superpro "more caster" alloy lower control arms (with offset bushes).

The NVH difference is noticeable. [Interestingly, i drove James' car for a bit and found it had less NVH than mine despite being on lower struts].

Mine also has a tendency to "fight the driver" through the steering wheel if there is a pothole or irregularity during a hard turn.

The handling improvement of "more caster" is remarkable and worth it in my opinion.
