I think colour coding the strut brace gold to match the rest of the theme under the bonnet was the right decision.. Yes does look really good

Took the jet ski out over Xmas and some w@nker reversed their trailer into the car...no note. I initially thought it was a rock chip but then saw it was on the same spot on the other side at the same height and both lights have chips in them.....not impressed.

will likely have to be stripped all the way back and re-bogged and re-painted

Touch up paint and live with the imperfection until something more substantial needs repairing?

Part out :)

BTW bloody tidy car man!! :ok: you can see you have put some work into it, you should be proud mate. Serious question though and please i mean no offence, and i do mean no offence, everyone can modify and detail their car how they want and i hold no criticism towards that... but for just understanding, why the shopping list down the side of your car?

one other thing, when i was younger i was once a spray painter and you get and eye for picking up blemished and inconsistencies that come with factory paint (robots will never be able to do what the human hand and eye can do. And from the looks of your paintwork one would say that you have either maintained your paint very well or it has had a respray, which ever man.. nice!!

We all do the same things to our SH's, the only thing that really separates us is visual aesthetics..hence having something that stands out more...oh and because it makes it feel race car so it goes faster

the grill is custom so its all new paint

First thing I noticed with my SWP SH that stood out was the aerial…never liked it and sold it before I got a chance to change it….picked up a MY15 Forester Shark Fin from a wrecker for $40 and decided to give it a go at swapping over. As a few guys on here can testify to…DIY is NOT MY THING. If it wasn’t for Evilrooter id still be trying to swap this bludger over!!
This is quite a straight forward swap over and would take a normal person about 2 hours to do. Took me 2 days!!!

I thought it was plug and play but the pin connectors were different. Got the sh!ts cos I didn’t know what I was doing and decided to pull everything apart. Thought I could just swap the leads over with the circuit board….nup!

Image

Gotta pull the side panels off before you can access the roof lining to get your hand in to undo the nut on the aerial

Image

Leads were the same thickness so realised I had to cut and splice....so where at around step 2 and around 30 texts deep to evilrooter!
Front is the fin, rear is the stock

Image

Got a dual pin connector to attach both wires…
Image

used Evils extremely detailed drawing on how to attach them together
Image

And ta daaaaaaaa!!

Fvcked it!!
Image

I didn’t fully unbraid the copper wire for the interference, and came up short! #dumbass

At this point the jet ski that’s being used as a work bench turned into a punching bag and google assistant is getting used to me saying “ok google, fvcking text Evil”

Ran some string line from the roof to the connector in the lining to see how much lead I would need cos I had to start again. Turns out I had one last shot so I spent 20 minutes unbraiding the copper wire on both ends to ensure I had enough wire to reach.
Nailed it!

Image

Wrapped foil around the twisted wire as a shield and taped the bludger up and put it back together
Image

Had to cut a bit of the base on the bottom of the fin to get it to sit flush. Threaded it back through and boom…an extra 9.4kwatw

What a drama! The end result looks good :)

I think the installation of the Beat Sonic ones is more my style - unscrew, screw, stick down - nice and simple :)
